Last weekend I was helping at the 30 Hour Famine booth at theNational Youth Workers Convention in Atlanta. It was a lot of fun and really inspiring hearing about people’s experiences with the 30 Hour Famine.
The three youth pastors in this picture are awesome. At our booth we had a visual of hunger shown by two sacks of corn. One sack weighed 30 lbs. and represented a healthy 3 year old child while the second sack weighed only 15 lbs. and represented a malnourished child of the same age.
These guys decided to carry around the malnourished sack all weekend to raise awareness about global hunger. They got to talk with a lot of people and the experience affected them in a huge way also. One of them has a 9 month old little boy who weighed more then the malnourished 15 lb., 3 year old, sack. He said he couldn’t stop thinking about that every time he carried the sack.
Even the little things, like these guys carrying around a sack of corn, can help change the world. Raise awareness. Talk about issues, such as global hunger, with the people around you. Small gestures are still gestures.
Be inspired by this story. Then do your part to make a difference.
